Situated just sixty miles from the coast of Africa on the same latitude
as the Bahamas and Florida, Lanzarote is the most easterly lying island
in the Canaries group. For consistent wind the island is best visited
during the summer months. However, the winter months can produce reasonable
winds with excellent waves. This combined with a warm climate and sea
temperature makes it a haven for windsurfers/surfers all year round.
A
few kilometres north of the capital Arrecife is the resort of Costa Teguise
which offers plenty of good restaurants, shops, bars and sporting facilities.
The windsurfing takes place in Las Cucharas Bay where there are a number
of hire centres offering a good selection of equipment from
JP, BIC, and AHD, a full teaching programme from beginner to advanced
and full rescue cover. A much under rated resort on the windsurfing map,
Costa Teguise offers a good variety of conditions to please most standards.
Sheltered sailing on the inside, excellent freeride/freestyle sailing
on the outside plus wave sailing on the upwind reef break. The resort
is perhaps more suitable for early intermediates up to advanced sailors,
though beginners are well catered for by all the windsurfing schools.
A
popular choice for many of our clients is the Windsurf Paradise Center
located directly behind Las Cucharas Beach. Their team of staff are from
all over the world (English, German, French-Canadian and Belgium) and
all are experienced instructors and passionate about the sport. They are
also very safety conscious and have their own bay watch security system
and rescue boat which is always available. The centre is equipped with
the latest selection of sails from Neil Pryde and boards from JP and F2
in Wave, Freestyle, Freeride and Widestyle as well as equipment for beginners
and children all of which is renewed on an annual basis.
Tuition
can either be taken in a small groups or on a one to one basis. Video
coaching sessions are available to help recognize and correct any faults.
As members of the association of International German Windsurf school
VDWS they offer a complete beginners course which includes the international
basic windsurf certificate.

Fanatic Board Centre Lanzarote is located at Las Cucharas (Costa Teguise),
right at the heart of the island's local windsurfing and surfing scene. The
new centre is 150 metres from the water, well organized, very professional
and equipped with shower, changing room and toilets. There you will find the
latest Fanatic and Neil Pryde ranges in all relevant sizes and a great team
