Windsurfing in Gran Canaria

Of all the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria has the greatest variety of scenery, ranging from sunbaked desert wastes and excellent beaches to quiet sub-tropical valleys and lush plantations of bananas and coffee. The island also has the reputation of being the most consistently windy, year round, in the Canaries.

Bahia Feliz

The popular windsurfing area of Bahia Feliz, just ten minutes drive from the busy areas of Playa Del Ingles and San Augustin, is a self contained resort well suited to families, couples and groups of mixed abilities. Within the resort is the Club Mistral windsurf centre which caters for all standards of sailor. In addition, they have just started offering a beginners kitesailing programme.

The conditions at Bahia Feliz are more reliable during the winter months as the wind zone moves inshore and accelerates providing excellent freeride and freestyle conditions generally in side shore winds from the left. During the summer months, as the wind zone moves further up the coast, Bahia Feliz offers much gentler conditions, more suited to beginners. During the summer months, high wind excursions, offered by Club Mistral, are available for intermediate or advanced sailors to Arinaga and Vargas just fifteen to twenty minutes drive away. Pozo, the renowned summer and winter wave sailing venue (suitable for ambitious/experienced sailors only) is also just 15 minutes drive. Situated at the other end of the bay at Bahia Feliz there is also the Dunkerbeck centre.
